Heres a true story about why being a Muslim is wrong?

Religion & Spirituality 10 Comments »
Titus M asked:

This is a true story and the author, Rick Mathes, is a well-known leader in prison ministry.

The man who walks with God always gets to his destination.

If you have a pulse you have a purpose.

The Muslim religion is the fastest growing religion per capita in the United States, especially in the minority races!!!

Allah or The Lord Jesus Christ? . By Rick Mathes

Last month I attended my annual training session that’s required for maintaining my state prison security clearance. During the training session there was a presentation by three speakers representing the Roman Catholic, Protestant and Muslim faiths, who explained each of their beliefs.

I was particularly interested in what the Islamic Imam had to say.

The Imam gave a great presentation of the basics of Islam, complete with a video.

After the presentations, time was provided for questions and answers.
When it was my turn, I directed my question to the Imam and asked: “Please, correct me if I’m wrong, but I understand that most Imams and clerics of Islam have declared a holy jihad [Holy war] against the infidels of the world and, that by killing an infidel, (which is a command to all Muslims) they are assured of a place in heaven. If that’s the case, can you give me the definition of an infidel?

There was no disagreement with my statements and, without hesitation, he replied, “Non-believers!”

I responded, “So, let me make sure I have this straight. All followers of Allah have been commanded to kill everyone who is not of your faith so they can have a place in heaven. Is that correct?”

The expression on his face changed from one of authority and command to that of “a little boy who had just been caught with his hand in the cookie jar.
He sheepishly replied, “Yes.”

I then stated, “Well, sir, I have a real problem trying to imagine

Pope John Paul commanding all Catholics to kill those of your faith or Dr. Stanley ordering all Protestants to do the same in order to guarantee them a place in heaven!”

The Imam was speechless!

I continued, “I also have problem with being your ‘friend’ when you and your brother clerics are telling your followers to kill me! Let me ask you a question. Would you rather have your Allah, who tells you to kill me in order for you to go to heaven, or my Jesus who tells me to love you because I am going to heaven and He wants you to be there with me?”

You could have heard a pin drop as the Imam hung his head in shame.
Needless to say, the organizers and/or promoters of the ‘Diversification’ training seminar were not happy with Rick’s way of dealing with the Islamic Imam and exposing the truth about the Muslims’ beliefs.

In twenty years there will be enough Muslim voters in the U.S. To elect the President!

Did Jesus Christ really go preach to some people in spirit prison?

Religion & Spirituality 11 Comments »
brigham_young_mormon asked:

First of all. The people who disobeyed in Noah’s day were judged by a RIGHTEOUS JUDGE.. Therefore is no reason for Jesus to have to go preach to them.

Secondly.. people miss the words “through whom” which tells how Jesus/Salvation was preached to them.

The Matthew Henry Commentary: 1 Peter 3:19 The preacher-Christ Jesus, who has interested himself in the affairs of the church and of the world ever since he was first promised to Adam, Gen. 3:15. He went, not by a local motion, but by special operation, as God is frequently said to move, Gen. 11:5; Hos. 5:15; Mic. 1:3. He went and preached, by his Spirit striving with them, and inspiring and enabling Enoch and Noah to plead with them, and preach righteousness to them

John Wesley’s Study: 1 Peter 3:19 By which Spirit he preached - Through the ministry of Noah. To the spirits in prison

The Bible Knowledge Commentary - by the Dallas Seminary Faculty - 1 Peter 3:19 The Spirit of Christ preached through Noah to the ungodly humans who…

If atheists disbelieve so they can do whatever they want, then why are prisons full of Chistians?

Religion & Spirituality 23 Comments »
The Empiricist Strikes Back asked:

One of the things theists repeat about atheists is that atheists disbelieve religion because that lets athesits do as they please, as though they otherwise could not commit crimes and immoral acts. Before I left the faith I did prison ministry for five years. I met theists by the thousands in the penitentiary. No atheists. Christians can probably name off pastors and priests they’ve heard of murdering their wives, commiting adultery, robbing the church, molesting children, snorting meth and hiring hookers for *** ***. Believing in a god clearly does not prevent immorality, so why assume the opposite? In fact beliefs about god have been the basis of horrific crimes like 9/11, the Inquisition, the witch hunts. Those murderers were not atheists. Why do you suppose theists don’t see the contradiction? Isn’t it just bigotry the same as fundies like Jerry Falwell slandering black people fifty years ago?
I’m familiar with jailhouse religion. I wasn’t a corrections officer, but I did my correctional counseling internships in college and was a police officer for fourteen years. But I met deacons and pastors in the pen who were religious long before they got to the pen. But my point was not that Christians are in prison out of proportion to their number sin the general population, only that a belief in the existence of a god or gods does not in any way act as a gurantee of morality. The worshippers of Baal and Chemosh were theists and they practiced human sacrifice. And one correction to a comment below: Mulsims are not atheist, nor are the Aryans. They believe in “Aryan Christianity.” So stop trying to affilate atheism with criminal gangs that are avowedly god believers.
And one other point: it’s a dodge to assert that every Christian who commits a crime was not really a Christian. 1 John 3:15 says, “And you know that no murderer has eternal life in him.” So I suppose onthat basis you might assert that a person hwo commits a murder is not saved or they could not murder. But I think it’s a stretch to build a doctrine on a single verse.

Did you know Kent Hovind from Dr. Dino is in prison because people **** the truth he preaches?

Religion & Spirituality 9 Comments »
sisterzeal asked:

If you believe that the court system is not corrupt, I hope you never have to face it in a major way. The truths that Kent puts out is in the bible the evidence is out there for anybody to look at, it doesn’t take Kent Hovind for a person to find the truth. Kent Hovind is in prison because the government wanted to get him, the IRS especially. He would not register for the federal tax exemption afforded to churches and ministries, because ultimately that gives the government a say in what the church or ministry can or can’t do, which was unconsiousable to Kent. There are charges that are flat fabrications, the prosecution did not follow the rules of proceedure and evidence, there were flat lies that were told and produced. Now mysteriously when he wants to appeal these errors in law the govt made, he can’t do it because they are dragging their feet in an outlandish way to get the transcripts for the appeal. This Judge that did this to Kent does not want this case appealled, she knows it will be overturned on appeal. And there is collusion going on to prevent the transcripts from being completed. If that’s the Atheists only best weapon against Kent Hovind, and his message, (that he can be falsely accused and thrown in prison by a biased court) then they haven’t got much of an argument against him.
There is information on this injustice to be found and a petition in his favor if you care to view it.

would you rather go to prison for 10 years or commit *******?

Religion & Spirituality 22 Comments »
Kira, god of this world (JPA) asked:

during these 10 years, you will be sexually abused, ***** and beaten every single day by other inmates. you have zero chance of getting out early. keep in mind, that the psychological damage will be severe, especially for those with anxiety issues. would you try to deal with it for 10 years, or kill yourself before they could send you to prison?

me personally, i would kill myself. after the first day there, i would wish i was dead anyways.

Are there more Atheists or religious people in prisons?

Religion & Spirituality 30 Comments »
john_d_ayer asked:

An Atheist recently started writing e-mail rants to me making all kinds of crazy statements about Atheists being peace loving, all while calling me more names and communicating more anger than I can possibly communicate here.

This caused me to refresh my memory on Atheists in Prison, where this guy obviously belongs.

We know from Department of Justice records that 80 percent of first time offenders have no religion prior to being incarcerated. They do not engage in any religious activities, prayer, church, etc and have no set form of belief system.

Once in prison these numbers reverse so that 80% become affiliated with a religion and 20% stay irreligious, not believing in any deities.

This change is obviously because of the prison ministries and services that religious organizations engage in.

Half the guys who keep getting tossed back in prison are those with no religious beliefs.

The data is on the DOJ website.

So, more atheists or religious people in prison?
Thirty responses, that kind of blows me away. I am cooking dinner so I can’t read them all.

Did I not make it plain that data was pulled from DOJ.gov? Can people not use a web browser or search engine?
Wait a second, if you ask someone if they believe in any gods or religions and they say “No”, it does not mean they are Atheist?

Not believing in gods or religion does not make you an Atheist. Very interesting argument.
Thanks for the link, my rolls are not quite done and I had some time.

http://www.adherents.com/misc/adh_prison.html

None/Atheist/Unknown 18,537 19.908%

Not a DOJ website, I notice you changed the data you posted.

nice to see propagandists are still up to the same old tricks.

Thanks, everyone else will know how lame you are as soon as they check your source.
Interestingly this morning a Google search on DOJ.gov returns no documents with prison in the text. I have to ask myself how that is possible, however, fortunately we had an Atheist post a website where they reproduce DOJ data and then change that data and post it here, with a link to the site where the data came from. Not very smart.

Because of my stance on choice, abortion and religion I have gotten rants from the religious also, nothing like what I received from this atheist though. This went way beyond not liking an opinion.

My opinion previous to this, even having read this information before, was that people of any belief system did bad things. The current data does not support my conclusion, and neither do most of the “answers” to this question.

The data supports that .2% of the population at large do not believe in any kind of God and 20% of the prison population do not believe in any kind of God.

Interesting statistic.
Cesario, I liked your answer but what I said is that 80% of people who go to Prison have no religious beliefs before they go to Prison and only 20% do.

The statistics, even from adherents (where they post data and come up with some conclusions not supported by the data), reflect that 80% of people who go to prison have no beliefs. While there the majority “convert” to a religion.

So people get sent to prison in a 4:1 ratio, “atheists” to “believers”.

In prison the trend reverses statistically, but, does in reverse in actuality?

The anecdotal evidence below suggests it does not. The data suggests that prisoners claim a religious affiliation to receive goods or services from prison ministries and or to receive preferential treatment from parole boards.

Thanks for a decent answer, there are several. I like sonfai81, Towelieb, DC, CSI, tebone, Donald and Thanku. Reasonable answers that I tend to agree with.

What is the baptist’s attitude toward prisoners?

Religion & Spirituality 7 Comments »
watertower2100 asked:

The baptists I’ve talked to are less than excited about a prison ministry to show Christ’s love to prisoners. Is there some kind doctrine thing going on here?
Based on the answers coming in I’d say its just the people I’m talking to and not representative of all baptists.

Why are religious people such monsters?

Religion & Spirituality 14 Comments »
religion_is_a_mental_disorder_01 asked:

they are the ones most likely to start wars, to murder “because god told me to do it”… to drown their kids in a bathtub “because they were not pure”, to smash their kids to death with rocks “because god said he would bring them back to life”, to cut the arms off their kids and watch them bleed to death, to drive their car into a lake with their kids inside, to kill their wives and entire families because they weren’t “godly enough”, they kill to “get satan out”, they tortured and burned innocent people (as well as animals) at the stake for centuries. “Believers” also make up aprox. 99.9 of viloent prison inmates ,,, and now the “holier than thou” are famous for molesting, raping, torturing, and threatening little children….. etc. etc… the list goes on and on and on and on and on.
Why would God want anything to do with any of you?
