If Virginia Tech shooter could get mental health help would they all be alive today?

Law & Ethics 9 Comments »
granny_sp asked:

The focus on guns in the Virginia Tech shootings has already sped to the front of issues.

Occasionally and not rushed to completion is the fact this man asked for mental health help and did not get it.

A news report showed an entire floor of inmates locked up indefinately in a Florida Jail with shortages of beds, running water and these men have not been charged. These conditions they were living in were sub human.
]
They are in for mental illness.

Florida has dedicated money to the separation of the mentally ill from the criminals.

Would it be technically possible for the President to pardon everyone in prison?

Law & Ethics 4 Comments »
Jeff N asked:

I realize that a presidental pardon is limited in several ways. For example a pardon can not be issued for a crime that has not yet been committed. Also, a pardon only works for crimes against the United States, so civil crimes are not covered. Finally, a pardon must be accepted by whomever is receiving the pardon. I was just wondering if the President could decide to pardon everyone in the United States that was eligible for a pardon at one time. Is there paperwork he has to fill out, or can he just say: “Everyone gets a pardon.”

Is the issue of child support being overlooked?

Law & Ethics 7 Comments »
wherethatpicture asked:

It is not the amount of payment that matters, nor is it the responsibiliy, nor is it the fact that both parents did make the children. The fact is that the system is suppose to work for both parents, instead it is causing strife and hardship to where a person can not afford to live. The custodial parent is living a dream to believe that they are going to get rich off of child support. The children are the real factor’s the are losing if a parent that pays child support suffers a mishap, or if they lose their jobs, or if they go to prison. Some parents don’t get to see their children, and even the custodial parents are pawning the children off on the daycare system. The prices of health insurance is outrageous making it hard for a decent person to live. I am only asking that the United States take a respectful look at the issues concerning child support because the paying parents are being compelled to terms and conditions that are unconstitutional.

Fellow Christians, what do you think about this?

Law & Ethics 24 Comments »
peaceandfearlesslove asked:

One only has to check out Bush’s record as Governor of Texas to see his own preference for death over life. During his tenure as Governor, Bush presided over a record setting 152 executions, including the 1998 execution of fellow born-again Christian Karla Faye Tucker, a convicted murderer who later led a prison ministry. Forty of Bush’s executions were carried out in 2000, the year the Bush presidential campaign was spotlighting their candidate’s strong law enforcement record. The Washington Post’s Richard Cohen reported in October 2000 that one of the execution chamber’s “tie-down team” members, Fred Allen, had to prepare so many people for lethal injections during 2000, he quit his job in disgust.

Bush mocked Tucker’s appeal for clemency. In an interview with Talk magazine, Bush imitated Tucker’s appeal for him to spare her life - pursing his lips, squinting his eyes, and in a squeaky voice saying, “Please don’t kill me.”
My point is the mocking behavior. that is just cruel

wln7854 asked:

An inmate currently serving time in a Texas prison on criminal charges needs an attorney to represent him on an issue concerning his sentence. He has absolutely no money. How can he find legal representation at little or no cost? Can he hire a public defender?

What is the text of a death warrant or execution warrant?

Law & Ethics 1 Comment »
Ylanne Sorrows asked:

I’ve looked all around the Internet, but can anyone provide me with the sample text of a death warrant, otherwise known as an execution warrant, which is a legal document issued permitting the death of a condemned inmate? In particular, the text of a federal death warrant?
I’m a crime writer, not a sicko.
